Synopsis:
Over three billion journeys were made by bus in the UK in 2022. Buses remain the most used form of transport across the country and provide customers with an unrivalled low cost and green option for travel. They are the essential backbone of many areas, connecting people to jobs, education, and their communities.
This event will discuss how government can encourage an increase in bus passengers, as well as how to decarbonise England’s bus fleet. We will highlight the findings of our upcoming report, A bus revolution: driving up prosperity across the regions which presents a costed 5 year plan to better, greener buses.
The panel discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.
Panellists:
- Chair: Peter Stephens, policy and external affairs director, Stagecoach
- Silviya Barrett, director of policy and research, Campaign for Better Transport
- Marcus Johns, senior research fellow, IPPR North
- Rosie Allen, policy advisor, Green Alliance
