Live webinar organised by the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association for Decarbonising Transport Week.
Synopsis
To meet its Net Zero targets, the UK needs to urgently decarbonise the transport sector. It cannot wait for electricity and hydrogen technology to become commercially available and must deploy ready-to-use solutions immediately. Biomethane is such a solution. At the conclusion of his review into the UK’s net zero targets, former Energy Minister Chris Skidmore MP noted, “The UK’s leadership on tackling climate change has delivered real change at home and led to a global transformation – but more should be done to reap the economic benefits that presents.” Biomethane as transport fuel represents just such an opportunity. With global demand for immediate transport decarbonisation growing by the day the UK could get first mover advantage in developing this sector. This webinar will discuss the potential of biomethane to decarbonise the UK’s HGVs fleet and steer the transport sector towards immediate decarbonisation. It will also review the challenges presented by the Zero-emissions vehicles legislation and how the UK can act as an incubator for an alternative solution based on biomethane.
