Live webinar organised by HS2 for Decarbonising Transport Week.
Transport is the UK’s largest emitter of carbon. For the UK to tackle climate change while supporting the economy and a growing population, it needs more zero carbon forms of intercity, mass transport. Britain’s new high-speed railway, High Speed Two, will deliver this from the first day of its train services, with every single train powered by carbon-free electricity.
This webinar will focus on:
• The HS2 project and route – providing zero carbon travel between London, Birmingham, Manchester, and the biggest cities in Scotland.
• HS2’s modal shift impact – enabling more journeys to be made by electric powered trains and active forms of travel in place of fossil fuelled road vehicles and planes.
• The prevalence of high-speed rail in Europe – decarbonising the continent’s transport system.
You’ll hear from modal shift and carbon experts who’ll take you through how HS2 will help decarbonise transport and help the UK hit net zero by 2050. The webinar will include a live Q&A session where you will be able to ask question of the panel of experts.
We will be running this session via Microsoft Teams Live Events, which is a free to use online platform. If you have the Microsoft Teams app installed on your desktop or mobile device, the session will open automatically within that.
Further joining instructions will be sent to all registered attendees closer to the time.
