Decarbonising Transport Week is ultimately about people and their actions. It is people running places and businesses who will decide which technologies to deploy and which solutions are worthy of investment. It is people who decide strategies to change old practices. We must generate clean electricity for the transition and develop cleaner fuels to help the UK reach net zero. We must also act on the signals given by the public. Climate change regularly figures in the top five concerns in polls. We must deliver multi-modal green transport and ensure it’s equitable. Decarbonising Transport Week connects experts with those looking for insights.
“Decarbonising Transport Week will provide a fantastic opportunity for businesses and communities to come together and show how they are leading the way in decarbonising. This is an important opportunity to maximize the potential benefits of the transition so that the whole of the UK will achieve its net-zero by 2050 ambitions.” Rt Hon Chris Skidmore OBE.
“Accounting for almost a quarter of all emissions, decarbonising transport offers both challenges and opportunities for Government policy in the years ahead. “But with this comes the opportunity to ensure the UK is a leading destination for investment in green technologies and innovation. This means the Government must ensure that it commits to goals – and hopefully exceeds – its target of R&D spending accounting for 2.4% of GDP by 2027. Combined with measures to incentivise private sector investment in this field, we can cement our position as a global leader in green technology, encourage the continued development of green industries – such as battery development for vehicles – level-up our communities and cut emissions. “I am delighted to see Decarbonising Transport Week championing the cause.” Rt Hon Greg Clark.
We are a digital only media organisation. We organise Net Zero Week held each July, Decarbonising Transport Week held each March, Energy Security and Green Infrastructure Week held each November, and we are the publisher of Climate Perspectives the ‘thought-leadership only’ climate magazine. Everything we do is focused on helping all stakeholders unlock the benefits of reaching net zero.
